New Scholarship Deadline Extended for East African Students

The MasterCard Foundation has extended its application deadline by two weeks, giving more students across East Africa the chance to apply for the 2027 cohort.

The MasterCard Foundation has announced a two-week extension to its scholarship application deadline for the 2027 cohort, opening the door for thousands more students across East Africa to submit their applications.

The extension comes after overwhelming interest from applicants in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Foundation representatives cited high application volumes and requests from partner universities as key reasons for the decision.

Eligible students must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to giving back to their communities. The programme covers full tuition, accommodation, and a living stipend for the duration of the degree.

Applicants are encouraged to review the updated timeline on the official portal and ensure all supporting documents — including transcripts, recommendation letters, and personal statements — are submitted before the new deadline.
